Presenter Biography
Michael has been in dentistry since 2000, he has his own coaching and training company called “New Beginnings” which he launched in January of 2021. Michael combines his passion of being a coach and supporting practices alongside working in a private Dental Practice. Michael has become the Patient experience manager for Long Sutton Dental in Lincolnshire, working across two private practices, which he commenced in October. Michael moved to Norfolk in January of 2023 and commuted for over 9 months to Birmingham to support the transition as he completed two and half years as the HR and Patient experience manager at Highfield Dental Clinic . Michael fully understands the challenges and changes that have happened and are happening in dentistry and uses his experiences to explain what he sees through his lens in practice.
Michael started his dental career as a Practice Manager for Boots Dentalcare in 2000 where he stayed until the end of 2004, when Boots decided to sell the dental business to Optical Express. Michael’s dental pathway continued after Boots, with Michael moving to a partnership of three dentists husband and wife James & Martine Graham and Joe Henderson called JM Dentalcare in Sutton Coldfield. Michael was their Practice Manager from 2005, a role he maintained until 2016. Michael flourished at JM having total autonomy of the practice, launching treatment coordination in 2005, becoming a qualified dental nurse in 2008 and having his own diary of patients alongside his management role.
Michael became a dental consultant in 2012 working for Practice Plan and alongside Laura Horton at Horton Consulting. Michael is a very experienced presenter in dentistry and can often be found delivering dental lectures at events across the UK and Europe. Michael has worked with many companies including Henry Schien, Clear Braces, Dental Care Ireland, SOE and Straumann, plus providing symposiums to IPG and ADI dental groups. Michael is very well respected in the dental industry across all peer groups and now continues to provide dental coaching and consultancy in practices with his own consultancy business “New Beginnings”.
Michael is also a professional actor and has been performing in musical theatre shows for the last 30 years so he does bring a certain theatrical flare too presenting. He has also popped up on the small screen in a couple of TV shows including recently in a documentary series about ACDC, where he played manager Michael Browning for ITV. Michael is a ballroom dancer and learnt to dance on camera for a six part series “The secret life of the ballroom” in 2017.
Michael is an active tennis player and is a ballroom judge for cancer research UK Ultra ballroom events who raise thousands to support development and research.
